VISITING TEAMS
Are you looking for a kick ass team to bout located in one of the most beautiful places in California? The Santa Cruz Derby Girls is the league you are looking for. Below you will find all the information regarding what you can expect when you come to bout us. We can’t wait to have you here and show you some true SC hospitality.
What you can expect on bout day:
• Where to go: First off, we bout at the awesome Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium, located at 307 Church Street, Santa Cruz, CA 95060. There is an alley way on the west side part of the building where you can park for free, up to three (3) parking spots provided, just make sure you park in a spot with a blue covering on the meter.
• Provisions: SCDG will provide the Visiting team with a suitable compensation, whereas the dollar amount depends upon distance needed to travel to Santa Cruz. We will provide you with water, snacks a private dressing, and a locker room with a shower. In regards to admission to the bout, SCDG will provide the Visiting team with each player a comp ticket to be used at their discretion.
• Promotion: SCDG will provide space for a standard sized banner to hang, and a modest area for merchandise sales. During event we will announce 3 “plugs” provided by the Visiting Team (must provide at least 10 days prior to Event). For example: an upcoming fundraiser your league is holding, recruiting announcement, etc.
• Uniforms: SCDG league colors are royal black and blue; therefore Visiting teams may wear any color other than black or blue tops.
• Family Event: SCDG maintains a policy to adhere to a “PG to PG-13” guideline of representation of the individual skater, team or league behavior. While roller derby is an exciting sport and illicits strong player and fan reaction; lewd behavior such as excessive use of explicit language or gestures will result in immediate ejection of the participating skaters from the bout. Audience members, support staff and affiliates are also expected to adhere to these guidelines.
• Medical Team: At every bout we have paid a Paramedic Team on-site in the case of any emergency. Also, there is an on-site Chiropractor and Physical Therapist if those types of medical issues arise.
• After Party: Our After Parties are located just down the street from the Civic at the Blue Lagoon, which is located at 923 Pacific Avenue, Santa Cruz, CA 95060. You get free admission along with free/discounted drinks.
Our Track:
Although the event will be played by WFTDA Standardized Interleague rules, we do not adhere to a WFTDA standardized track. The floor is made of polished hardwood. We have found that the best wheels for our floor are the Atom G-Rods or Omegas.
Referees:
If you are coming to ref at one of our bouts, please remember to bring full gear (knee pads, wrist guards, elbow pads, and helmet) and USARS. (More information provided in bout contract). Email our
